WE's gas system has become the most common rival of the WA full bolt system, especially since they released their open bolt technology; this particular mode comes with the open bolt system pre-installed. Adding to the overall authentic look of this gas blowback SCAR, are fully licensed and laser engraved FN Herstal trademarks found on the full metal upper receiver.
This is a replica of the third generation SCAR with the newly designed stock with multi-position adjustable length and ability to fold to the right side; additional, the cheek rest is adjustable to either a flat or raised position. The model bears a full length rail on top of the receiver and three segments of Picatinny rails on 3, 6 and 9 o'clock to attach tactical accessories. The charging handle, selector lever and bolt catch/release are ambidextrous and fully functional.
With full metal and polymer SCAR type weapon, it feels very solid and robust; a fairly common factor on gas weapons, unlike AEGs, as their bodies are built to contain actually mechanical forces and are not just a basket to hold a gearbox. Besides the realistic action and real cap magazine, it also field strips like the real thing. The upper receiver is made from anodized aluminum, so the color is more solid, than when it`s made with traditional painting method. The lower receiver is made from high quality polymer. The external barrel, flash hider, bolt catch, charging handle latch, pivot pin, takedown pin, rear sight are made out of steel. Pistol grip, stock and lower receiver are made from polymer. Both rear and front sights are folding and the rear one is adjustable as well.
The open bolt in this rifle make it fairly realistic but more notably the WE technology kicks hard and loud. With an inner barrel that runs almost to the tip of the outer barrel, running Green / Propane gas through the normal WE AR magazines that this runs on allows it to launch 0.2g 6mm BBs at around 380 FPS (depending on ambient temperature) which makes the carbine a nice choice for both short and long range. It also cycles pretty damn fast too. The model is compatible with WE's m4 type magazines that are metal and hold 30 BBs.
The Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) is a modular rifle made by FN Herstal (FNH) for the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) to satisfy the requirements of the SCAR competition. This family of rifles consist of two main types. The SCAR-L, for "light", is chambered in the 5.56?45mm NATO cartridge and the SCAR-H, for "heavy", fires 7.62?51mm NATO. Both are available in Long Barrel and Close Quarters Combat variants.
