The A&K M60 VN as a service weapon, has been around since the late 50s and has seen extensive use during the Vietnam War. Since then, the M60 has continued on as a service weapon for the US military, as well as military organizations around the world, becoming an effective SAW [squad automatic weapon] due to its superb firepower, rate of fire, and high ammunition capacity (this Airsoft version manufactured by A&K features a 3,500rd box mag standard!).
The model is made entirely out of metal with the only exception the stock, pistol grip and handguard which are polymer. An adjustable/retractable bipod also comes integrated onto the gun itself, as users will find it very useful in times of varying Airsoft combat scenarios. The M60 is known for its length, and of course, with the longer barrel comes the added range and accuracy of every shot.
The A&K M60 offers a lot of unique and down-right cool features at a reasonable cost. The favorite is hands down the adjustable ROF (rate of fire) switch located underneath the barrel. With the built-in MOSFET circuit, you are able to actually increase or decrease the rate of fire of this rifle to best fit your shooting needs. Adjusting this switch accordingly produces a varying rate of fire, from 11-20 RPS (rounds per second). It's an extremely useful and neat feature by all accounts, and is standard on the A&K M60. As it so happens, rate of fire is one of the M60's most outstanding attributes, as it tops out shooting over 1,100 rounds per minute on fully automatic mode!
The box magazine holds a whopping 3,500 rounds of BBs, so you can pick off your opponents all-day-long. Another very cool feature that we've come to love is the the drum magazine's automatic winding functionality. The mag only winds BBs up the feed (from the BB reservoir) when the trigger is pulled, to consistently feed BBs to this ammo-hungry machine gun.
The package includes the M60 with its folding bipod, the magazine, battery and charger.
The M60, officially the United States Machine Gun, Caliber 7.62 mm, M60, is a family of American general-purpose machine guns firing 7.62?51mm NATO cartridges from a disintegrating belt of M13 links. There are several types of live ammunition approved for use in the M60, including ball, tracer, and armor-piercing rounds. Introduced in 1957, it has served with every branch of the U.S. military and still serves with other armed forces. Its manufacture and continued upgrade for military and commercial purchase continues into the 21st century, though it has been replaced or supplemented in most roles by other designs, notably the M240 in U.S. service.
