As the AK rifle entered the 21st century, it began to see more battles in smaller, tighter spaces, so it was redesigned with a polymer side-folding skeleton stock to reduce its length and weight, while providing the support of what a full stock could.
In place of its classic wood furniture are light weight and durable polymer parts now found on the stock, grip and hand guards which are modelled after the Tapco series accessories.
The handguard feature a rail interface system that runs along all sides, perfect for mounting accessories and attachments. Its pistol grip now features a tough and ergonomic design for the user's comfort in long engagements.
What hasn't changed is the metal construction which includes the receiver cover, cover retainer button, trigger, trigger guard, magazine release, charging handle, mock gas piston, fire selector lever, rear sight, gas tube release lever, hand guard retainers, front sight block, and its threaded outer barrel.
The receiver is made out of High Density Plastic that cuts down some of its weight. The rear sight is adjustable and hop-up adjustment can be performed simply by pulling back on the bolt.
Housed within is a Version 3 full metal gearbox with precision gears that propels BBs at 330 to 370 Feet Per Second . Version 3 gearboxes are the standard for AEG AK's and just like its other brethren it is open to a variety of upgrade parts for players to fine tune this platform to shoot harder, faster, farther.
The gun's length can be reduced by folding its stock to the side to engage targets in Urban and CQB areas and extended for support or for open spaces. Just as in the military world, between its durability, performance, and looks, this airsoft gun is a great choice by all alike - whether new or pro.
The model comes with a Waffle High Capacity magzine, folding vertical grip, battery and charger.
The AK-47 is a selective-fire, gas-operated 7.62x39mm assault rifle, first developed in the Soviet Union by Mikhail Kalashnikov. It is officially known as Avtomat Kalashnikova but also known as Kalashnikov, AK, or in Russian slang, Kalash.
Design work on the AK-47 began in the last year of World War II (1945). After the war in 1946, the AK-46 was presented for official military trials. In 1948 the fixed-stock version was introduced into active service with selected units of the Soviet Army.
An early development of the design was the AKS (S—Skladnoy or "folding"), which was equipped with an underfolding metal shoulder stock. In 1949, the AK-47 was officially accepted by the Soviet Armed Forces and used by the majority of the member states of the Warsaw Pact.
The original AK-47 was one of the first assault rifles, after the German StG 44. Kalashnikov surely had examined samlpes of the MP44, but the AK47 is by no means a copy of it.
Even after six decades the model and its variants remain the most widely used and popular assault rifles in the world because of their durability, low production cost, availability, and ease of use.
It has been manufactured in many countries and has seen service with armed forces as well as irregular forces worldwide. The AK-47 was the basis for developing many other types of individual and crew-served firearms. More AK-type rifles have been produced than all other assault rifles combined.
