The ARES SCAR is one of the top picks for the SCAR family. The lower receiver is similar in dimensions to the M4/M16 and is constructed from heavy duty polymers; the magazine release, selector lever, bolt release are in the same position and there is a M16 style pistol grip. Although it is designed to feel and have many of the same controls as the M4/M16 series it improves upon them in many ways. The upper receiver, for example, is now one piece and has an uninterrupted picatinny rail on the top of the receiver, effectively doing away with the delta ring. The model includes two removable side rails and a removable bottom rail that can be used for mounting flashlights or numerous other accessories. The sights fold down out of the way for clear vision through an optic system.
The EGLM (Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module) included is a modular launcher that fits on both the Light and the Heavy versions. It is also constructed out of metal and polymer. It can use any kind of 40 mm airsoft grenades on the market.
The upper receiver is CNC crafted out of aluminum and the lower receiver housing is Nylon Fibre that reassures strength and sturdiness. The whole package is one of the most well put together SCARs in the market.
Like many other AEGs the SCAR has a functional bolt release/stop that allows the user to adjust the hop-up without holding back the charging handle. The butt stock is side folding retractable with six positions and an adjustable cheek rest. When folded the stock locks onto the shell deflector but does not get in the way of the ejection port/hop-up or the trigger.
The ARES SCAR, like any other SCAR model out there, utilizes a Version 2 Gearbox. It comes pre-upgraded with polycarbonate piston, metal bushings, etc, etc. The low resistance wiring helps to work flawlessly even at high speed or high power set ups. Its High Torque motor supports the gearbox function that pushes out around 330 FPS. The velocity can be adjusted due to ARES' quick spring change system that allows the user to do so in a matter of seconds without the use of a tool. The battery rests inside the stock and its confined space allows for an installation of a Mini type one. ARES includes a mediumn capacity magazine with the gun. It is metal and holds around 180 BBs. In any case, the model uses its own unique type magazines, which are compatible only with ARES' M14 magazines.
The Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) is a modular rifle made by FN Herstal (FNH) for the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) to satisfy the requirements of the SCAR competition. This family of rifles consist of two main types. The SCAR-L, for "Light", is chambered in the 5.56?45mm NATO cartridge and the SCAR-H, for "Heavy", fires 7.62 ? 51mm NATO. Both are available in Long Barrel and Close Quarters Combat variants.
