The Scorpion VZ 61 is famous for its service as a sidearm for soviet tank crews (even though it is a Czech design and product) and is one of the few remaining guns that can be considered a true machine pistol. JG has released this famous gun as a replica automatic airsoft electric pistol.
The lower part is metal and the upper receiver is made of a polymer material, however, the way it is put together makes it extremely solid. The thing really is built like a tiny little tank, free from any creaks or wobbles.
The Skorpion comes with a top folding metal wire stock that locks very solidly in the folded position using the front sight as a locking point. To fold it, you just squeeze the wires at the base and fold it onto the front sight.
The pistol grip is made of plastic and acts as the battery compartment. To access the compartment, rotate the circular device at the bottom of the grip to unlock the hatch. You can then insert the battery or change the fuse if it blows. Reinstallation just requires you to push it firmly to lock it in place.
The controls are located on the left side consisting of a selector switch in a unique full auto-safe-semi layout over a 90 degree sweep, and a magazine release button. Pulling back the charging handles opens the faux chamber located on top of the receiver giving you access to the hop-up adjustment dial. At the front of the receiver, you can install the included lower RIS section for mounting accessories.
The Vz61 bears front and rear sights that resemble pistol one. The rear can be flipped to one of two range settings, and the front can be rotated like an AK front sight for elevation and even windage, due to the offset post.
Included in the package is a Picatinny adapter that can be added on the front part of the little gun. That allows the user to take advantage of a vertical grip or a light for those dark rooms in a CQB game.
Another great added bonus is the existence of a silencer adapter. Just remove the factory outer barrel and screw on the adapter. The 14mm CCW threading is compatible with most airsoft silencers in the market.
The JG Vz61 utilizes an AEP (Automatic Electric Pistol) metal gearbox. It produces a whopping 250 FPS, which is lower than AEGs but it is more than adequate for CQB games or as a sidearm for outdoor games.
Despite being such a compact model, it bears a 126 mm long inner barrel and an adjustable Hop Up unit making this little SMG ideal for CQB games.
The included magazine is a hi-cap which holds about 80 rounds. The model is compatible with most Vz61 magazines out there, whether midcaps or drum magazines.
The package includes the 7.2V battery and the charger required for its function.
